Introduction
To Medical Professions/Procedures
Grades 10-11
The
comprehensive, laboratory/non-laboratory course includes, but is not limited
to, medical ethics and legal responsibilities, personal qualities of health
care worker's basic skills, appearance, behavior, communication, problem
solving, decision-making, medical terminology and abbreviations, health
care delivery systems, and health care careers. Medical Procedures includes patient care, clinical skills, pharmacology, administration of medication, first aid/CPR, infection, control, safety, and vital signs.
Human Anatomy & Physiology
Grades 11-12
This
course includes the fundamental process of disease, body organization,
body systems, and medical terminology to each system.
Medical
Clinical Internships/Specialization
Grade 12
This
class is for those students who have completed both of the two beginning
courses. It consists of three individual courses:
Health Care Career Specialization is taught in the spring
term. It may only be taken after completion of Introduction to Medical
Professions, Medical Procedures, and Anatomy and Physiology. This
course provides lab experiences through clinical rotations at various
health care facilities in the community.
