MALE
CHORUS
GIRLS CHORUS
Grades 9-12
Each
chorus is a singing group designed for learning proper vocal technique
with performing as an outgrowth of the classroom instruction. No audition
is required for either chorus. Attendance at public concerts is required.
GIRLS
CHORUS 9
Grade 9
This
choir is a non-audition class for any ninth grade female who would
like to learn the basics of singing in a high school choir. This class
is intended to prepare students to audition for one of the other choirs.
Participation is required, including two evening performances.
SELECT
GIRLS CHORUS
Grades 10-12
This
auditioned choir is designed for girls in the intermediate stages
who have auditioned and displayed better than average abilities but
are not quite ready to be placed into the Concert Choir. Participation
is required, including two evening performances.
CONCERT
CHOIR
Grades 10-12
This
is an advanced, mixed singing group designed primarily for performance
of the classical choral literature. An audition is required before
a student may be placed in this group.
AP
MUSIC THEORY
Grades 11-12
The
goal of AP Music Theory is to develop a student's ability to recognize,
understand, and describe the basic materials and processes or music
that are heard or presented in a score. A student should possess the
ability to read and write musical notation, and have at least basic
performance skills in either voice or an instrument.

BAND
Grades 9-12
Senior
band is composed of students in grades 9 - 12 who have had prior band
experience and training in the junior high school. They function as
a marching unit during the fall semester and as a concert band afterthat. The band participates in all clinics and contests sanctioned
by the Arkansas Activities Association.

DRAMA
Grades 9-12
In
this course, students develop interest and skill in all aspects of
the theater experience from history to set construction to acting.
All students must act a part as a course requirement. This course
includes the intense study of theater history and dramatic themes
and philosophy.

ART
I
Grades 9-12
This
course includes basic art concept and techniques including: composition,
drawing evaluation, color theory, sculpture, print making and some
crafts. Painting in tempera and pastel drawing is also taught. The
historic aspect of each media or technique is taught as part of the
unit.
ART
II
Grades 10-12
This
course covers advanced drawing (shading and pen and ink techniques),
water color, silk screening, and crafts. Creativity in design and
idea are essential for the Art II student. An art history emphasis
is included in this curriculum.
Prerequisite: No semester grade lower than B in Art
I.
ART III
Grades 11-12
This course is for the student who is task oriented and committed to the visual arts. Students will continue their artistic studies through a variety of advanced mediums. Besides studio work, the ART III student will be required to read and study Art History, work on out of class projects and complete weekly assignments in sketch book.
Prerequisite: Art I and Art II with a grade of B required.
ART IV
Grades 11-12
An advanced continuation of the visual art experience. The self-motivated student will be required to study Art History, complete out of class projects, a weekly sketchbook and complete a competitive portfolio.
DRAWING
Grades 9-12
A .5 credit class which is an overview from contour line drawing to perspective using a variety of mediums while learning the elements and principles of design as applied to Visual Art.
CERAMICS
Grades 9-12
A .5 credit class that will explore three methods of hand-building through complex form ceramic work. Sculptural and functional pieces will be created.
