EACC Secondary Career Center

The EASCC is located on the East Arkansas Community College Campus. The Center was created in 2004 through a collaborative effort by EASCC, area school districts, and the Arkansas Department of Workforce Education. The EASCC provides area high school students with the opportunity to pursue career programs, receive high school credit and college credit. EASCC provides students with hands-on training in the following technical fields: Criminal Justice, Hospitality/Tourism and Lodging, Intro to Manufacturing and Web Page Design. In order to enroll at EASCC, a student must be in the Eleventh or Twelfth Grade and have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0. Students will attend EASCC from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day.

Intro to Hospitality/Travel and Tourism
Grades 11-12

Students in the Hospitality/Tourism program will learn about the management, marketing, and operation of restaurants and other food services, lodging, attraction, recreation events, and travel related services. The various careers in hospitality and tourism will be examined.

Lodging Management I and II
Grades 11-12

These courses center on the jobs available in hotels, resorts, bed and breakfasts, time shares, and condominiums. A student must take Lodging Management I before Lodging Management II.

International Travel/Travel Operations
Grades 11-12

These courses are for the second year student interested in the travel and tourism industry. A student must complete Intro to Hospitality and Intro to Travel and Tourism before taking these courses.

Intro to Criminal Justice
Grades 11-12

The Criminal Justice program is designed to provide students with an understanding of the law enforcement and public safety field. The focus of this program is on the duties and tasks performed daily by law enforcement personnel.

Law Enforcement I
Grades 11-12

This course is designed for the first year students interested in becoming a law enforcement officer.

Criminal Law
Grades 11-12

This course is designed for the second year student interested in a career in law enforcement or public safety.

Law Enforcement II
Grades 11-12

This course if designed for the second year student and builds on concepts and practices taught in Law Enforcement I.

Introduction to Manufacturing
Grades 11-12

This course is designed to introduce the students to the world of advanced manufacturing and establish a foundation upon which further studies in manufacturing might rest. Students will explore basic manufacturing materials and processes, tools, techniques, and produce some simple products.

Design for Manufacturing
Grades 11-12

This course is designed to expand on the introductory manufacturing course and expose the student to basic design concepts, computer skills, and drawing skills used in product and process design within the field of manufacturing. Additionally, the course is designed to expose students to a number of interpersonal skills and competencies necessary for a sustained career in manufacturing.

Manufacturing Production Processes
Grades 11-12

This course is designed to provide the student with hands-on learning experience with the basic tools, equipment, and operations of manufacturing industries. The student will also understand the relationship between a manufacturing need, a design, materials, processes, as well as tools and equipment. During this course, the student utilizes many of the basic manufacturing processes to produce primary and secondary materials for manufacturing.

Manufacturing Power & Equipment
Grades 11-12

This course is designed to expand upon previous courses and allow students the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge of power systems and use the advanced tools of manufacturing production. Students plan, design, implement, use, and troubleshoot manufacturing power systems, equipment systems, and control systems.

Web Page Design I

This course provides an introduction to computer systems. The course stresses computer system hardware, software, data storage, terminology and procedures. Additionally, the course provides the student with beginning skills required to use a microcomputer system, operating system software and an integrated software package.
Prerequisite: Word Processing I & II or Computerized Business Applications

Advanced Web Page Design

This course if a continuation of Web Design I. It teaches students to create and administer media-rich web sites while utilizing tools such as Flash, Dreamweaver and various multimedia components. Emphasis on this is on theory, design, and web construction, along with information architecture concepts, web project management, scenario development, and performance evaluations in preparation for the Certified Internet Web Master Professional Certification.
